A Nice Site to Have a Look At

Having visited a multitude of "artists" sites and having been subject to the shallow mumbo-jumbo of artists teetering on the cusp between the obvious and the inane, I was a little refreshed to find this effort. Playful and fun, it demonstrates the magic of the medium. Enjoy.

I dreamed that I opened my mail box and . . .

. . . found the cover of Time above staring back at me. O joy! O happiness!
Have I died in my sleep.? Thank you Vincent for allowing me to live out our little fantasy,

Reporting From Savannah GA

Lady and Sons, Paula Deen's restaurant in Savannah is without a doubt everything one could expect in southern cooking. If you grew up in the rural south, this is the food that your grandmother made. This cooking came from a time when a grandmother's time in the kitchen was proportional to the love she felt for her family and friends. If I were to tell you to put your money where your mouth is you could not go wrong at Paula's table. Everyone at my table, ate the "southern buffet" a spread rivaling my grandmother's who would apologize from the moment you sat down at her table about the lack of something. "If you had only let me know you were coming, I'd make something special."

How can perfect get any better? Perhaps, In heaven with my grandmother. This restaurant is something very special. A return to childhood. And no one could ever have to apologize for it. Great food served with love. Who could go wrong.

Errol Morris

Roger Ebert has said, "After twenty years of reviewing films, I haven't found another filmmaker who intrigues me more...Errol Morris is like a magician, and as great a filmmaker as Hitchcock or Fellini.

"Quirky! The Hidden Truth! Strange!
These words all describe the films of Errol Morris.

My first exposure to his nimble sense of the "REAL" was "Vernon Florida", an expose of the ordinary peoples that fill the landscape of a tiny north Florida hamlet of the same name. I was drawn by the fact that Vernon lies just twenty minutes from my own front door. After watching his images, I was struck that all the people I INTERACTED WITH ON A DAILY BASIS WERE VERY MUCH LIKE THOSE THAT HE POINTED HIS CAMERA AT! This stuff should not be missed.

Click the title above for his website and watch some of his startling masterpieces.

Rollerskates Meet Surfboard

Stacy Peralta'a Dogtown and the Z-boys pays homage to the outsiders of Dogtown (the low rent side of Santa Monica CA in the early 70's) who needed something to past the time when the surf subsided after 10AM. They put skate wheels on planks of wood and skateboarding was born or more accurately perfected with STYLE. If you are looking for the definitive film about the "origin" of the modern skateboarding phenomenon, look no farther.
